Dependence on psychoactive substances has a complex dimension. This is determined by the fact that the problem of drug use affects not only the health of an individual, but also exerts a significant influence on their functioning in society.
Drug addiction is characterized by a strong acquired need for these substances. It is estimated that in the 15-64 age group, about 5% of our population use psychotropic substances / intoxicants. Compared to the general population, adolescents are most often affected. In recent years, it has been reported that nearly half a million deaths per year are related to drug use.
What symptoms should I look for when drug addiction is suspected?
- Changes in physical appearance (neglect),
- Reddened sclera,
- Dilated or excessively narrowed pupils,
- Hyperactivity or phlegmaticity,
- Permanent runny nose or other upper respiratory problems,
- Negative mood, lack of willingness to live, depressive states.
The examination of the panel of psychoactive substances is performed:
- as screening tests to prevent addiction,
- to monitor the addicted person,
- as part of random workplace inspections,
- where applicable, prior to taking up employment or taking out an insurance policy.
The offered panel of tests determines the detection and semi-quantitative determination of the substances listed below and / or their metabolites. This confirms their presence or absence in the body of the examined person. The result is presented in the form of a graphical interpretation of the amount of substance detected (-, +, ++, +++).
